Orchids...Bali

Various photos taken of orchids in Bali October 2012.
The first batch were taken at Bali Adventure Tours Elephant Park near Ubud. The second at the Orchid Garden about 10 kms north of Sanur.
No labels for these as orchids are by no means my area of expertise. Some are recognisable as the type you can find in many garden centres and interior design magazine articles around the world. Some I have never seen before.

 Two plants for damp shade - the one on the left is spathiphyllum and on the right eucharis grandiflora (eucharist lily, not dis-similiar to the swamp lily - crinum penduculatum) but with pendant flowers.

                                                     Unidentified aquatic plant - any ideas?

                         One plant I did recognise - actually a type of passion flower - passiflora coccinea.
All of the above orchids were growing in the shade....whereas many of those at the Orchid Garden in Sanur were, to my surprise, in full sun.

Current projects......

West Pinjarra....

I started the design for this new build project back in about June. 

3,000 sq m of front garden on a 5,000 sq m plot.

The design and planting plan has been completed - the design has been added to the website portfolio to replace the current rural design shown.

This site covers an area of about 10,000 sq m and will be renovated over the next year or so.

The initial design will cover about 4,000 sq m and is largely a planting plan with some redesign of the plant bed shapes and sizes. This area is to the front of the current property, which is also due for renovation & extension.

The planting plan and minor re-design has been started. 

The remaining design and planting plans for the orchard, driveway & rear garden will be carried out as the property is renovated.

Mosman Park - New build

This corner property was nearing the lock up stage in January 2012.

The west side of the property will have a 2nd al fresco area and a raised decking path around to the pool on the north side.

 

On the north side of the property, the roofed al fresco area and pool shell were already installed. The client had already chosen timber-look ceramaic tiles for the al fresco area and these will be complemented by exposed aggregate paving around the pool and corten steel planters.

More wildflowers.......

....Further north than last time...Kalbarri, Denham, and then south to Geraldton and Eneabba along the Brand H'way.

Latest project......last updated 14th April 2012

This design that was completed back in April 2011 is now entering the construction stage.
Not currently featured in my website portfolio, this is a renovation with the emphasis on water conservation.

Only one street back from the ocean, the front of the property will reflect the ocean with waves of low raised beds rippling down the slope towards the road. The emphasis will be very much on waterwise & coastal tolerant planting.
The front lawn has now been removed and this area will be waterwise plants only (mainly, but not solely, WA natives).

ORIGINAL GARDEN

Many of the plants required for the front garden are currently not available so will be added at a later date.
           
The driveways are to be renovated (relaid, in part, and repainted)

Concrete paving on the side of the property has now been removed along with the lean-to awnings allowing in alot more natural light.

AFTER REMOVAL OF THE CONCRETE PATH

The back garden will have the path around the pool widened, with exotics to the already present raised beds.
The back lawn will be relaid over a slightly higher area with more exotics to be planted amongst the current oleanders and frangipanis.
